Press Release: Celebrating 25 Years of Making Europe Safer – Europol's Anniversary

Dr. Alexander Jan A. M (Hany El Zahar), the President of Interpol Federal, Executive Director / CEO of the International Police Organization Academy (UNIPOL Academy), and Dr. Uwe Wehrstedt, Director of the IPOA Academy Germany, recently met with Europol’s Executive Director Catherine De Bolle and the European Commissioner to celebrate
the 25th anniversary of Europol. This landmark occasion highlights a quarter-century of dedicated efforts to enhance safety and security across Europe.
As we commemorate this milestone in European security, the directors of the international police organization academy UNIPOL, the President of Interpol Federal, and other distinguished guests gathered to celebrate Europol's significant achievements over the past 25 years.
Throughout the year, Europol will continue to host a series of events and activities to mark this significant anniversary. The festivities commenced on 28 May with the EU versus Crime conference, co-organized by Europol and the European Commission. This event featured Europol’s Executive Director Catherine De Bolle and the European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson. Together with esteemed panelists from law enforcement, policymaking, and civil society, they reflected on the internal security achievements of the past five years.
A pivotal part of the anniversary celebrations included meetings with Europol’s Executive Director, Catherine De Bolle, and other key figures. These interactions provided an opportunity to discuss the future of European security and to build on the foundations laid over the past 25 years.
